U-Boat U-89

U-89 is seen here leaving the U-Boat Bunker in Brest, it was heading to take part in the Atlantic operations in the Autumn of 1942. U-89 was sunk in the central North Atlantic by the combined efforts of Catalina flying boats and the British warships "Biter", "Broadway" and "Lagan"

Nice photo Jim. I'd really love to hear some first hand accounts of U-Boat men. Das Boot (although a fictional account of U-96 by Lothar-Günther Buchheim) is excellent in the account it gives but a more rounded account would be wonderful
