Spin off: WWII on Google earth

Jim said something that made me think. What differences do you think we would see if we had google earth during the war?

That's something to think about.

It reminds me of showing my brother-in-law Google Earth on my computer and watching him look for where he was stationed in Germany probably a couple decades after the war.

I remember him saying that Google Earth showed the missile silos that would have been in the area. I guess that's common knowledge now?

Interesting question ..

If it was only available to one side then i believe that side would have won the War in a short period ..
Now if it was available to both sides it would be difficult to predict the outcome, maybe it would have come down to the side who had the most superior weapons..

Just to complicate things, here are a couple questions: Are we assuming that the images (hypothetically) seen on Google Earth in the time of WW II would be current?

I believe the free version's images on my computer are at least several months old, based on the progress of construction across the street.

And if they were current, wouldn't they be very subject to cloud cover and darkness?

I don't think the satellites would have been up there very long to take pictures of any value, but the mind boggles..

Then the war wouldn't be at battlefield,but it would be fought at internet to hack Google Earth to remove country's own data.Otherwise Google would have made a huge profit by selling the site to either party.
