La Cambe cemetery is the largest German military cemetery in Normandy. The cemetery was finished in 1961, and inaugurated in September of that year. In total there are 21,222 German soldiers commemorated here, many of these were very young men, between the ages of 18 to 20 years old.
Sited in open country access to the Marigny cemetery is approached along a narrow winding road. Some 11,169 German soldiers are buried within the Cemetery of Marigny, brought here from many isolated graves in Normandy during the late Fifties.
Orglandes entrance is marked by a small house surmounted by a bell-tower and was originally an American cemetery. 10152 German soldiers are buried here. The cemetery was designed between 1956 and 1961.
Within sight of Mont St Michel the mausoleum rising on a hill whose center shelters a necropolis. The ossuary contains 68 crypts with the names of 11,956 German soldiers on bronze tables, and was inaugurated in 1963
You enter St-Désir-de-Lisieux by a small columned house met by rows of red sandstone crosses, planted with irises. Burried here are 3735 German soldiers who fell in the final days in the Battle of Normandy, it is also the smallest of the German military cemeteries in the region.
This cemetery was set up during the fighting following the Landings, in the month of August 1944 when Allied Troops advanced towards Paris and the Seine and holds 19,809 German soldiers of WWII
