Question Fat Man-End of world War II

On 9th August 1945,American forces dropped atom bomb known as "Fat Man" on Nagassaki of Japan, which killed more than 70,000 people & uncountable injuries. The bomb completely destroyed Nagassaki. After this incident,Japan surrendered on 14th August 1945.So the World War II came to an end.But was it the last solution for US to defeat Japan ?

Look at the A-Bomb thread in this section. As I said it depends on your point of view. I firmly believe that Truman made the right decision because a Full Scale invasion of Japan would've been a blood bath quite honestly. If you think Iwo Jima & Okinawa had bad casualty rates then Japan itself would probably have been 10 or 20 times that - for both sides.

The mindset of the allies should also be considered - Why should the Japanese prolong the agony any longer, and indeed how dare they ? With 55 million people already dead surely enough is enough. I think that's a good point.
