Thread: Japanese War Sex Slaves

This is just horrible. I not begin to know the horror and pain those poor women or really those poor children went though. How sad that they have had to carry the shame around for so many years.

This is really horrible and glad that these women are speaking out and I think Japan should apologize to them and their families.

Wow, I honestly have never heard about this until now. What a horrible way to go through young adulthood and war, which is a bad enough mix already.

I will be looking for and following news on this to see what is said and done.

I'm a little surprised that I haven't seen mention of these atrocities before this.

I wonder if the Japanese government will formally offer an apology to the families? If so, it sounds like that would be a long way off.

There were a lot of sexual atrocities in the West as well that don't get as much publicity. Russian soldiers marching toward Germany were fond of raping women and girls from the towns they invaded and there are many accounts in a book entitled "Witnesses of War" regarding the frequent sexual subjugation of German women during the Nazi defeat.

This isn't to excuse the East in any sense but I wanted to answer the post above where it was implied that these sort of events only happened in the Pacific Rim.
