In 1936 Italy and Germany established by treaty what became known as the Rome–Berlin Axis. Later, Japan associated itself with the Axis, and in 1940 the “Tripartite Pact” allied the three states. Germany’s client states, Romania, Bulgaria, and Hungary, were also considered Axis powers.

That's interesting. When I thought of the Axis, I just thought of the "big three" - Germany, Italy and Japan.

I didn't realize other countries were associated with them.
