I noticed that there was a forum for cemeteries in France, but didn't see another forum to post about other cemeteries.

When I was about 15 my family took a trip to Italy, and on one of our daytrips to one of the numerous churches we visited the bus made a stop at Sicily-Rome American Cemetery and Memorial.

I don't remember the church we went to, but I remember the cemetery well which is an odd thing for me because I dont like cemeteries in general. Overall most of the group was annoyed by the extra stop, which was not on the itinerary, but after being there just about everyone I talked to gained some appreciation for all that was there.

During what was supposed to be a fifteen minute stop, I really saw for the first time just how much this one war cost. I stood in the middle of a field of white crosses as far as I could see in every direction.

If you are ever in the area, you should definitely stop because I dont think there is a more peaceful or beautiful place in Italy.
