I've been flicking over to Radio4 aswell Kelly, Ken Bruce and Steve Wright just don't do it for me, (both tossers whose idea of a good record is Robbie Williams, Tina Turner or Luther Vandross) - and Jeremy Vine is starting to grate a bit.
I heard some of the stuff on Riefenstahl, they were discussing her and then a play or something started that was based on her life I think. It was excellent but I had to get out of the damned car soon after it started.
Sorry I haven't got time to look at these long vids ATM but just to say it's also topical with the infamous Bryan Ferry comments mentioning her. I'll check "Listen Again" on the R4 website I think, good shout mate!

EDIT: Hey it's there, "Book Of The Week" on this link, narrated by Kenneth Brannagh, it's riveting, and way way better than Steve Wright...
:D Only thursday and friday are still working atm.

    Talking

I listened to it all, Dave, I'd never heard of her but had obviously seen her work (Nuremburg Rallies etc). They capture the moment imperiously.

Triumph of the Will was basically a showpiece for the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Leni Reifenstahl was popular with the Nazis. It was of course a powerful propaganda tool to show the Aryan "Master" Race to be superior. US Athlete Jesse Owens rather spoilt Hitler's party by winning a shed load of Gold Medals by beating so called "Superior" German Athletes in the games though
