The Geheime Staatspolizei, or Gestapo, were part of, or under direct control of, the SS. That's one

Until he was assassinated, Reinhard Heydrich's SicherheistDeinst (Sp?) or SD Security Police (Walter Schellenberg) and the Waffen SS fighting units. Also the Einsatz Gruppen that followed up behind the main assault forces, particularly in Russia.

Yes. They were made up of Police Units mainly. They would systematically route out undesirable (by the Reich) people and dispose of them. Political Commissars were a priority in Russia becuse they usually went along with Soviet Infantry Units to spur them on with Communist Propaganda etc. Also of course to route out Jews. Not very nice people ...

I would replace EinsatzGruppen with the SD because the SD was an important part of Reich Security. Walter Schellenberg was the orchestrator of the famous "Venlo" incident where 2 British MI5 personnel were abducted from a cafe at Venlo in Holland in 1939, after they'd been duped in to meeting a top German agent.

The GeStaPo was not a group from the SS.

    To the other things:

The SS was divided into 3 Groups:

    1. Allgemeine SS
    2. SS-Totenkopfstandarten
    3. SS-Verfügungstruppen

The Waffen SS was (later) the combination Totenkopfstandarten-Verfügungstruppen

It was a division like the "Kurt Steiner", "Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler" and all the other divisions.

From the first decembre of 1939 the Waffen SS was a main part and involved the soldiers from the following divisions:

    1. SS-V-Division
    2. SS-Totenkopf-Division
    3. SS-Polizei Division
    4. SS-Junkerschulen
    5. SS-Totenkopf-Standarten
    6. Ergänzungsamt der Waffen-SS (SS-Erg.Amt)
    7. Waffen- und Geräteamt der Waffen-SS (SS W. u. G.Amt)
    8. Personalamt der Waffen-SS (SS-Pers.Amt)
    9. Amt R. V. der Waffen-SS (Amt RV)
    10. Fürsorge- und Versorgungsamt der Waffen-SS (SS-F. u. V.Amt)
    11. Sanitätsamt der Waffen-SS (SS-San.Amt)
    12. Verwaltungsamt der Waffen-SS (SS-V.Amt)
    13. SS-Gericht
    14. Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler

The Hitlerjugend was not a main part, it was just a Division!

Hope i could help a bit

It has turned out more interesting than expected, thou i am supprised with the amout of divisions that killa752 mentions. So the answer is not 5, it is more that their were 3 groups divided into many divisions, is this correct?
