The King has approved the removal from Buckingham Palace of certain sections of railings and gates. These will be converted into scrap for the manufacture of war weapons. About 20 tons of metal was removed on October 3rd, derived from sections of the inner railings behind the main railings fronting the roadway in Buckingham Palace Road. It is estimated that the Ministry of Works will get some 500,000 tons of scrap iron from the collection of unnecessary iron gates and railings listed by local authorities throughout the country.
